1917
I have always been a sucker for a World War genre film. I love a man in uniform (for purely sartorial reasons), it could be The Great Escape, Dunkirk or Guns of Navarone. I have seen them all countless times. So I was looking forward to seeing 1917.
The premise is simple: Two young British soldiers during the First World War are given an impossible mission: deliver a message deep in enemy territory that will stop 1,600 men, and one of the soldiers' brothers, from walking straight into a deadly trap.
Visually it is amazing, excellent cinematography and direction including some great single frame take that capture the chaos, brutality and pointlessness of War very well.
