Ancient Greek Sandals
Alain Leber was recently appointed head of men’s design at Ancient Greek Sandals, marking a pivotal moment in the brand’s evolution. With over two decades of experience at esteemed luxury houses such as Louis Vuitton and Burberry, Leber brings a refined and strategic perspective to the men’s category, signaling a renewed focus for the brand.
His inaugural collection, unveiled for spring 2024 at Pitti Uomo, reimagines the essence of Ancient Greek Sandals while introducing a fresh, globally minded identity. Spanning five distinct lines, the collection features elegant leather flip-flops, suede two-strap sandals, minimalist slides, and classic leather fisherman designs. Each piece embodies the brand’s commitment to craftsmanship, while addressing the growing demand for versatile, high-quality men’s footwear.
Central to the collection’s development was Leber’s collaboration with local Greek artisans, a process he describes as both enriching and enlightening. “Working with local craftsmen has given me a deeper understanding of the product and its origins,” he reflected, highlighting the balance between tradition and innovation. This partnership reinforces the brand’s authenticity and allows it to evolve in a way that feels organic yet modern, positioning Ancient Greek Sandals as a leader in the luxury men’s sandal market.
