Architecture Week 2022
Architecture Week is back and runs from Thursday 15th September through to Sunday 25th September. This year’s programme is located across various venues and it's well worth marking in your diary - illustrated talks, panel discussions, walking tours, street and music events. A range of choices that adequately caters to those of us who are not architects but harbour an interest in design.
To quote Auckland branch chair Megan Rule, Architecture Week creates opportunities for public dialogue on design concerns as “we experience a momentous regulatory change in urban intensification and building performance, not to mention mental health and wellbeing.”
Highlights for us will be the return of the Futuna Lecture series at St Matthew-in-the-City with guest speaker Michael O’Sullivan, this year’s Ockham lecture at Objectspace delivered by Albert Refiti “What is Pacific Architecture?” and the Open Studios -Tāmaki Makaurau + Te Tai Tokerau.
And make sure to give yourself time to experience the newly opened exhibition ‘Walls to Live Beside, Rooms to Own: The Chartwell Show’ at Auckland Art Gallery. Senior curator Natasha Conland has drawn from the extraordinary Chartwell Collection and themed a show around how artists have responded to our much changed relationship to life at home during the global pandemic.
