Best Offer
I was the best offer my Art Friend recieved this week for a date so a movie about art called best offer was too good to pass up.
The story ( as it is told ) focuses on Virgil Oldman ( played by Geoffery Rush). He is a solitary, cultured man whose reluctance to engage with others, especially women, is matched only by the dogged obsessiveness with which he practices his profession as a high-end antiques dealer.
One day Virgil receives a phone call from a mysterious young heiress, Claire , who asks him to evaluate some family works of art. It will be the beginning of a relationship that will change his life forever. Or so the speil goes.
I had high hopes for this movie and left mildly annoyed, mainly by the characters, especially Claire, Oh and the online booking system and subsequent processing at Rialto Cinema, I've got through Heathrow quicker!
What saved it for me was the art and the suits, very nice tailoring and glovery.
Almost worth seeing it for that alone.
