Blam Blam Blam

Tonight I am going to see Blam Blam Blam perform in concert.
Their brief career had a significant impact on the New Zealand music scene; Satirical and Political with a slight Punk edge they were signed to Propeller Records and epitomised the musical revolution of that time. In 1982 the band recorded an album Luxury Length, which reached No. 4. in the New Zealand charts. They disbanded the same year and Don went on to form the Front Lawn and Mutton Birds.
This band holds a special place in my heart and the musical journey I embarked on as a 15 year old. I can still remember plucking up the courage to walk into The Record Factory at 637 Colombo Street, Christchurch one school holidays to purchase my copy of Luxury Length on cassette. It was the first album I ever bought - prior to that it has been mixtapes and swaps.
Forty years later the horns may sound a little out of breath but I am sure the beat will still be there. I am looking forward to being transported back to that fabulous pre digital time.
