Christchurch Art Gallery Foundation
The Christchurch Art Gallery Foundation announced their new endowment fund at a gala black tie dinner in Christchurch this weekend.
My Art Friend and I were lucky enough to attend.
Their goal is to build an endowment fund of $5 million over 5 years to buy new works for their (already impressive) collection.
Recent acquisitions include Michael Parekowhai: On First Looking into Chapman’s Homer that was purchased with funds raised in 2013. Bill Culberts work Bebop is the next one in their sights.
There are many ways you can support what they are doing.
The first thing is to realise that this is a Gallery making intelligent acquisitions for all New Zealanders not just Cantabrians.
This is a Gallery worth supporting. They are innovative, resilient and optimistic about their future.
They are doing it via a strong online presence, great publications and targeted, effective fundraising.
Their impact on New Zealand Art as a whole is unsurpassed by any other Gallery and they deserve your support.
