Ferrari

Last evening, I attended a screening of Michael Mann's latest film, centered around the Ferrari brand. This storied brand and the struggles of its founder, Enzo Ferrari, are well-documented, so I was excited to see the results. Mann has successfully captured the essence of the legendary Italian automaker, weaving together a compelling narrative while paying homage to the historic Mille Miglia race.

One of the standout elements of the movie, apart from the cars and the intriguing characters, is the impeccable wardrobe. The costume designer Massimo Cantini Parrini has done an exceptional job recreating the fashion of the era, transporting us back to the golden age of motor racing and men's tailoring. Who needs a flame-retardant suit when you can wear a glen check blazer? The wardrobe choices not only enhance the film's visual appeal but also immerse the audience in the time period. From the tailored suits of the men to the elegant dresses of the women attending the races, every costume exudes authenticity and elegance.

Mann's dedication to capturing the spirit of the Mille Miglia race, in particular the Summer of  1957, is evident throughout the film. The race sequences are a thrilling mix of heart-pounding action and historical accuracy. The attention to detail in recreating the iconic cars that participated in the Mille Miglia is exceptional. Mann's ability to seamlessly weave historical elements into a contemporary narrative is a testament to his storytelling prowess.

This film is well worth watching, especially if you have a passion for women of a certain temperament, fast cars, racing, men's tailoring, or if you appreciate the beauty and complexity of Italian culture. I highly recommend seeing this film.
