Fruit Cake
A 106-year-old Fruit Cake has been discovered by Antarctic Heritage Trust conservators and is believed to be from Scotts Terra Nova expedition.
The cake probably dates to the Cape Adare-based Northern Party of Scott's Terra Nova expedition ... as it has been documented that Scott took this particular brand of cake with him at that time," the Trust said.
The fruitcake, made by British company Huntley and Palmers, was found in "excellent condition" inside an iron alloy tin, still wrapped in paper.
It has been described as almost edible.
