Malcolm Heard
I was saddened by the news that Malcolm Heard of Preston & Maurice Tailors passed away yesterday.
Malcolm was one of New Zealand’s only Savile Row trained tailors and plied his craft for a great number of years in High Street.
Still working up until his death he was an expert on how a suit should be made and the importance of front balance, a lesson he gave me one day at least 15 years ago from his very messy and slightly dusty workroom.
Responsible for introducing Scabal Fabric to New Zealand as well as dressing countless Judges, Business people and celebrities over the years he really was the real deal.
We were lucky enough to feature in a program that recently screened with him.
