Man Alone
Last night my Art Friend co hosted a dinner at Vinnies Restaurant as part of their Art Box series where guests dine and are invited to listen to an artist speak.
This month it was painter and printmaker Stanley Palmer, The scenes he favours are mainly New Zealand coastlines with themes of colonisation, conservation, and the land. His latest exhibition If I am remembering anything is inspired by the John Mulgan novel Man Alone.
In it Mulgan mentions a series of New Zealand beaches that he recalls by sight, smell and even taste.
This sensory experience was very well interpreted in the food that was prepared by Geoff Scott with knowledgeable wine pairings from Sommelier Rowan Collings.
