Peter Gouge
US-based New Zealand artist PETER GOUGE has a solo show opening at the Melanie Roger Gallery this evening.
"Based on a series of preparatory drawings made since 2014, the carpet paintings in the show are the first I've made since leaving New Zealand. These paintings were completed over the span of a few weeks in May 2016, so a long gestation with a short delivery. In contrast, the large grid painting 'F.I.U.O.', a response to the 1945 Stuart Davis painting 'For Internal Use Only', was completed over the six months after finishing the carpets."
This will be Peter Gouge's first solo exhibition with Melanie Roger Gallery. The show opens this evening (April 26th) from 6pm-8pm and runs through until May 20th.
