Shutting Up Shop
Shutting up Shop is a lovely little book I picked up today.
The brainchild of British Photographer John Londei each shop in the series is unique. Each has its own field of specialisation from Cork to Ballet shoes and pens to umbrellas.
Just as important as the shops are the shopkeepers forming an integral part of the photographs.
In these days of Chain stores it is great to see small owner operated businesses, diverse, eclectic and original.
The Brits have been described as a nation of shop keepers, for many there is no nobler profession.
This book pays tribute to some of them.
