Spitfire P9374
Christies Auction House have announced that they will be auctioning off Spitfire P9374, one of only two original MK1 Spitfires still in existence, in July.
Salvaged from the Calais coast after 40 years resting where it had landed during the evacuation of Dunkirk in 1940 this is an amazing wartime story.
The Spitfire is without doubt one of the most beautiful pieces of industrial design ever.
The plane in question has been restored to its original condition and is estimated to sell for nearly two million pounds.
P9374, one of only two original Mk. 1 Spitfires to still be flying, is to be donated by the American entrepreneur and philanthropist who masterminded its painstaking restoration, and offered in the Exceptional Sale on 9 July
