Supreme Intervention
This week saw the launch of a collaboration between luxury fashion brand Louis Vuitton and skate brand Supreme.
The collection features denim, sneakers, gloves, scarves, and a wide range of bags, including a backpack, messenger bag, and bum bag in the brand's signature materials.
The influence of skate culture in fashion is well documented and Supreme are well known for their collaborations with a wide range of brands. Creative Director for Louis Vuitton Kim Jones is also a big streetwear fan.
In an ironic twist, in 2000, Supreme received a cease-and-desist letter from the French brand they are now working with when they "borrowed" LV's monogram print on its skateboards.
The copiers and replicators are being brought into line by the establishment and the old adage "if you can't beat them join them" seems to be alive and well.
