Tūpuna Maunga
Tūpuna Maunga is Maori for ancestral mountain and if you live in Auckland you are not far from one.
They are part of what makes our city so great and I thoroughly support proposed policy to make all Tūpuna Maunga alcohol and smoke free.
The Maunga Authority is quoted stating that the sight of cigarette butts and discarded bottles/cans is not conducive to the living connection our communities have with these important places.
The alcohol and smoke-free policy is another of the Authority-led measures to enhance the relationship between people and the Tūpuna Maunga.
I cannot believe that there is any debate about it breaching peoples civil liberties, and if it does - who cares?
