The Conspirator
My Art Friend and I went to The Conspirator last night. I am a sucker for a period drama set in any wartime setting.
It didn't disappoint, a nice dose of American history riddled with misery and suffering. Sideburns and bonnets a plenty.
Robert Redford captured the mood of the time very well and it was historically accurate on most levels. It was also not overly patriotic which I think worked well: Not too many flapping American flags.
We saw it at the Lido Cinema which was a welcome haven on a rainy night. You can't book online but if you telephone ahead they will save your tickets for you. Reassuringly old fashioned, a bit like the movie I guess.
