The Last Dambuster

The Dambusters were legendary for their wartime heroics and a constant source of inspiration for me as a child, raised on a diet of Commando Comics & Airfix Models.
The force is best known for bouncing bomb raids on the Mohne and Eder Dams in the industrial heart of Germany and questionable dog names.
Their last wartime pilot Benny Goodman has died aged 100. Benny joined the RAF at the outbreak of World War Two in 1939 at the tender age of 18, and was part of a mission to try to destroy Hitlers Eagle’s Nest retreat at Berchtesgaden.
Only 24% of bomber pilots survived the war unscathed, with every mission they flew being treated as their last.
