The Park
The Park is a public sculpture.
A piece of environmental art involving bees initiated by Sarah Smuts Kennedy and Taarati Taiaroa.
It centers around six beehives introduced into Victoria Park for Autumn 2014.
Building, identifying, and plotting Pollen Hotels on a map can involve everybody.
These Pollen Hotels are needed to help sustain the bees over the winter.
In turn, the bees foraging will physically map the territory of The Park.
This conceptual space becomes visualised as many private contributions are connected and formed into one common and collective space – The Park.
The Park has been created as part of POP, proudly initiated by the Waitemata Local Board.
